I.                   ENTRANCE  EXAM

     for the budgeted places

 

                         Date of the entrance exam: 22nd  July 2009

 

 

Applications for the entrance exam will take place in the week prior to the exam, at the secretarial offices of the respective faculties, from 13th  -17th   of July, between 9.00 a.m. - 14 p.m., and from 14th - 18th of September 2009 (for the autumn session).

                  Entrance exam:

 

For Medicine and Dental Medicine

(years of study: 6)

 

a. Biology 11th  form (multiple choice test)

The multiple choice test is based on the textbooks approved by the Romanian Ministry of Education, valid for those who graduate from high school in 2007 -2008.

 

For the short-term specializations, the admission is based on the results obtained at the baccalaureat exam; candidates who wish to register to the specialization of Dental Technique have to take a practical skill test.

 

The fee for the entrance exam: 100 lei.

 

 

DOCUMENTS required for application

 

 

1.      Application form for enrolment and the examination’s identification card in 2 copies (to be obtained at the registration desk).

 

2.      Baccalaureate (or high-school) diploma, in the original form and 2 authenticated copies copy. Foreign citizens should also submit 2 authenticated translations of the high school diploma.

 

3.      Transcript of records (in the original, 2 authenticated copies and 2 authenticated translations)

 

4.      The applicants that graduated in 2009 can submit, instead of their high school diploma, a certificate that they graduated from high-school and that they passed their final exam; the certificate should also show the average obtained at the final high school exam. The applicants will be requested to submit their baccalaureate (high school) diploma in the original form at the secretarial offices of their faculties no later than the beginning of the academic year 2009/2010 (October 1st 2009).

 

5.      Should the applicant enroll for the entrance exam to another faculty, he will submit a legalized copy, instead of the baccalaureate diploma in the original form and the copy of their identification card from the first faculty they have applied to; this copy will to be authenticated for conformity by the secretarial office where the applicant has been enrolled. Applicants that are already enrolled in some form of undergraduate study, may submit an authenticated copy of their baccalaureate diploma and a certificate from the faculty where they had deposited their original baccalaureate diploma.

 

6.      Birth certificate in the original form, 2 authenticated copies and 2 authenticated translations. The original form will be handed back after having confronted it with the copies at the registration desk.

 

7.      Health Certificate issued by the applicant’s general practitioner, stating that the applicant is physically and mentally fit to pursue undergraduate studies.

 

8.      Health Certificate issued and stamped by the dispensary of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timişoara.

 

9.      6 Photographs - passport type.

 

10.  Relevant documents for those requesting exemption from the examination registration fee.

 

11.  Certificate showing that the applicant is a student - for those who desire to enroll to a second faculty - and the baccalaureate diploma  in the original form or a legalized copy.

 

12.   Receipt for payment of the fee (100 lei).

 

13.   Application File.

 

14.   At the registration, the applicant must show his Identity card or a copy after his Passport.

 

 

Eligible applicants for the entrance exam at the UMF "Victor Babes" Timisoara: high-school graduates with a baccalaureate diploma (or its equivalent), regardless the year of graduation, who are citizens of Romania, of the European Union, of the European Economic Area and of the Swiss Confederation.

 

CANDIDATES WHO GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL IN COUNTRIES OTHER THAN ROMANIA SHOULD HAVE THEIR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMAS (OR ANY EQUIVALENT SECONDARY EDUCATION CERTIFICATES) ENDORSED BY THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND INNOVATION before submitting their documents at the university

 

 

For the applicants that have a baccalaureate diploma issued by other country than Romania, the admission test will be taken in Romanian language.

 

Applicants who are not Romanian citizens have to submit a language certificate issued by an accredited language centre, attesting that they speak Romanian.

 

Applicants who have passed the entrance exam, will be registered in the first year of study, following the Rector’s Decision.

 

Applicants who have passed the entrance exam have to pay the registration fee within 48 hours from the announcement of the results.

 

Successful applicants have to submit to the secretarial office a copy of the payment slip which proves that they have paid the registration fee, in order to be formally registered. Applicants who fail to submit the proof of payment will not be formally registered, and will automatically lose their placing.

 

Should any of the applicants withdraw give up their place as a result of not paying the registration fee, the place left free will be taken up by the next applicant, in order of their average obtained, provided the average is higher than 5 (five); this can be done on the basis of an individual request submitted during 27 - 28.07.2009 between 9:00 a.m. - 14.00 p.m. at the university registration desk (room 1).

 

Should number of requests exceed the number of available places, applicants will be admitted on the basis of their average obtained at the entrance exam.

 

Should there remain any unoccupied places by the 1 October 2009, these places will be redistributed or taken up according to the average placement criterion, on the basis of an individual request submitted between 1st of October and 3rd of October, at the university registration desk.

 

 

 

II. ADMISSION TO THE SELF-SUPPORTED FEE-BASED FORM

 

Applicants who did not apply for the budgeted places or who did not succeed at the entrance exam in July, Romanian citizens, citizens of European Union, of the European Economic Area and of the Swiss Confederation can study in the self-supported fee-based form, in the limit of the places approved by the Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation, provided that they have submitted a formal request to that end.

 

The following applicants may enroll in thee self supported fee-based form: Romanian citizens, citizens of European Union, of the European Economic Area and of the Swiss Confederation who did not take the entrance exam in July, but have a Letter of Acceptance from the Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation. The applicants in question have to submit their documents (see Documents needed for registration, under paragraph I) to the International Office of the university, no later than July 1, 2009. Applicants who pursue a second faculty (long-term higher education), as well as applicants who pursue a second specialization (short term higher education) can study only in the self-supported fee-based form, without taking an entrance exam,

 

Applicants from Algeria, India, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria and Pakistan will submit their application documents exclusively through the Romanian diplomatic missions in their countries.

 

Applicants from GREECE, ITALY, PORTUGAL and SPAIN

need the Hague Apostille on their study certificates (high-school diploma)

 

Formal registration will be completed only after having submitted at the secretarial office a copy of the receipt proving that they have paid the following tuition fees:

Romanian citizens, citizens of the EU, citizens belonging to the European Economic Area and of the Swiss Confederation who have not taken the entrance exam, but who have a Letter of Acceptance from the M.E.R.I. can also be enrolled at our University, in the self supported fee-based form. They will pay a tuition fee of 4000 Euro / year.

 

 

     CITIZENS OF THE STATES THAT ARE NOT MEMBERS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, EEA OR THE SWISS CONFEDERATION

 

 

Acceptance to studies for these citizens will be granted only on the basis of a Letter of Acceptance issued by the Romanian Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation.

In order to facilitate the obtaining of the Letter of Acceptance, applicants may submit their documents as specified under paragraph I to the address above (paragraph II), and the university will process their documents and apply for the letter of acceptance. Upon registration, applicants will have to pay a processing fee, besides their tuition fee.

The tuition fees will be established by the M. E. R. I.

 Language certificates

If the candidate doesn't have a language certificate issued by an accredited language institute, he/she will have to take a language at the Language Department of the university. If the candidate passes this exam he/she can be enrolled in the first year of study. If they don’t pass the language test, they will have to follow a preparatory year, during which they will learn Romanian. Applicants who can formally prove that they have studied for a period of 4 consecutive years in Romanian/English, are exempt from the language test and the preparatory year. The cost of the language test is 320 USD.

 Candidates who need a Letter of Acceptance for studies issued by the Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation, have to submit their documents together with an application form.
